Image
Can you believe we are only a few days away from October 2022? Time passes; it seems like we only recently rang in the new year three months ago. October will arrive in a few days, and since then, we have been focusing on taking care of ourselves throughout our blog. We are introducing our "October Self-Care Challenge" for you this month. Relax, It's your Bedtime Routine.

Image
A night routine is the things you do immediately before going to bed. For example, it may be your habit to have a hot drink before going to bed, or perhaps you like to read a book in bed before going to sleep. No matter what night routine you have now, we recommend you should try some of our night steps to wind down. One hour before bed, cut off all electronic devices, which can be distracting for at least 30 minutes. The blue light from electronics interferes with the production of melatonin, a hormone necessary for restful sleep. Other alternatives would be reading a book, meditating, doing a facial, or even practicing bedtime yoga. A big no-no for a nighttime routine would be drinking any caffeine after 4 pm. Caffeine stays in our system for about 6 hours, affecting our night routine. Caffeine will make us feel jittery until it runs through our bodies while trying to relax for bed. After winding down, you should continue with your hygiene routine. Take a hot bath, brush your teet

Cleaning Is Self-Care

Image
Such a weird but therapeutic thing to do once you get into it. Organizing is fun because you’re getting things in order, and cleaning is fun because after you’re done, something is clean! Sure it’s a pain to do sometimes, but the results are refreshing! Cleaning and organizing is a practice of taking care of yourself and what is best for you; also, you take care of your home space. Small tasks, such as picking up after yourself to organize your makeup drawer, closet, or kitchen, will make you feel amazing right after your space is tight. This practice can be mentally satisfying, and the outcome is such a stress relief that once everything is put back in its correct space, you will thank yourself for doing it.  Remember, I don't want you to do a deep-down cleaning spree. No!!! I am talking about you taking your time to clean, maybe even declutter simultaneously but making your personal space feel cozy, pleasing, and enjoyable rather than messy and stressful. The following are s

Let's Reconnect in the Bath

It is time to sit back and relax. We are going into the bathroom for this one. There is nothing more soothing than hearing the running water of a bath, the sizzle of a bath bomb, and the wrapper opening from the face mask you are about to wear. First, you wanna set the mood. Go to your source of music; Apple, Spotify, or Pandora, and find yourself a relaxing playlist to listen to. Then find yourself some smelling good candles and light them up! Place them all around the bath and listen to the wicks burning. Now we wanna throw in a bath bomb and run some bubble bath under the water.  Before you get in, you wanna prepare yourself to be the best relaxed you can be. Grab yourself a refreshing beverage, maybe two, and a snack. If you are a reader, grab a book you have been putting aside and finally read it! Next, grab your face mask that you have stored away for the longest time and slowly apply to your face. Take the time to smooth everything out. If you don’t have a face mask, no worrie

Where to Reconnect with Nature

It is a good day when you can go out and smell the roses. Houston may be a busy city but there are some hidden gems to visit. If you are ever in the mood to go outside and catch some rays of sunshine, you must visit these 3 places for hikes.  Just on the outskirts of Houston by I-10 and 610, there is the Memorial area. And here is where you can find two places to go for walks, Memorial Park and the Houston Arboretum. Memorial Park has a 3- mile long trail named The Seymour Lieberman Trail for walking and running. There are other paths for cycling. Also, for the months of September, October, and November, you can sign up for morning wellness walks.  On the other side of Memorial Drive, you can visit the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. It is a 5 - mile long set of network trails, with the Blackberry trail being the shortest trail, 0.07 miles, and the Outer Loop being the longest, 1.76 miles. They do offer Habitat Hikes, which is a self-guided hike that gives an insider look at the A

Introduction

We live in a world where everyone has a busy life: running around, up and down from work, or school that we forget about ourselves at the end of the day to take time to reconnect and do a full day of self-care. Self-care is vital to our life with exercising our bodies and our mental health. Let’s stop and start thinking about yourself and allow some intentional time to prioritize your well-being.       Our blog will be about different activities you can do indoors and outdoors, i.e., places for hikes or creating meals that are indulging.  Different ways to create a safe space for yourself, i.e., transforming the bath for a relaxing time or enjoying a picnic. As well as creating routines to make you feel comfy and relaxed. This blog is for a person who would like to enjoy self-care moments, someone who is learning to enjoy their own company, and anyone who just wants to take care of themselves. The blog can help the audience to realize how much we need a self-care day since it
